1. The Consumer Affairs Ministry has permitted manufacturers, packers, and importers to revise MRPs on unsold pre-packaged goods post-GST changes, reflecting only the tax difference. 1. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has extended the provisional enrolment of 63 Non-Food Production (NFP) Units for collection used cooking oil from Food Business Operators (FBOs) until 31st July 2026. FSSAI may cancel enrolment for non-compliance of SOPs, order, guidelines or submission of false information or based on findings of inspections.

2. The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has withdrawn the Quality Control Orders for Acetic Acid, Methanol, and Aniline, which were originally issued in 2019 and set to take effect from August 3, 2025. The immediate removal of mandatory BIS certification is expected to ease sourcing and compliance for the pharmaceutical sector.

3. The Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change has notified an Amendment to the Environment Protection Rules, 2025, introducing stricter emission and effluent standards for pesticide manufacturing units. New limits on pollutants such as COD, BOD, heavy metals, HCl, benzene, and methanol will enforce tighter pollution control compliance effective immediately.

4. A recent Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) study reveals that just 28.5 % of cancer patients in India receive radiotherapy, while the ideal rate should be around 58.4 %. India currently has 794 radiotherapy machines, but needs between 1,585 and 2,545 to meet demand. The council recommended urgent expansion.

1. India’s Ministry of AYUSH has notified an amendment to the Drugs Rules, 1945, inserting Schedule TB, which specifies the standards for the delivery mechanism, preservatives, and excipients that must be complied with in order to obtain a license for the manufacture of Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani, or other traditional medicines that use a nasal spray as a delivery mechanism.

2. India’s Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has notified the revised Schedule II (Export Policy) whereby, the terms of export have been updated in conformity with the Finance Act, 2024.

3. India’s indirect tax regulator has issued a circular clarifying the conditions for eligibility for the interest waiver scheme introduced by the GST Council late last year. In addition to submitting applications and filing Forms GST SPL-01 and GST SPL-02, applicants are also required to withdraw any appeal application filed against demand orders, notices, or statements for which the interest waiver is being sought.

1. The Department of Pharmaceuticals (DoP) released the Uniform Code for Marketing Practices in Medical Devices (UCMPMD) providing guidelines to medical device companies for regulating monetary and non-monetary incentives given to Healthcare Professional (HCPs) for eliminating unethical conduct while organising promotional and training programs for such HCPs. The UCMPMD also sets guidelines for establishment of an ethics committee and entering of complaints on the UCMPMD portal set by the DoP.

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has withdrawn its previously issued public notice for the discontinuation of all courses offered by the College of Physicians & Surgeons (CPS), Mumbai as it was earlier regarded as being beyond the powers of the college to provide conduct examinations and award degrees. 5. The US Court has held that expert testimony is a requirement in all medical negligence cases, and it is not enough for the claimant to establish that the doctor had not communicated the box-label warning to the patient or patient’s family, especially in cases where the patient’s claim was based on the absence of informed consent.
